Passive dreaming and zero action will not make your dream come true. In order to achieve something one has to turn a dream into a goal and make a detailed plan of its realization - this principle has been the motto for the residency of artist Alevtina Kakhidze in St Petersburg. The participant of the 4th season of TOK’s project ‘Critical Mass’ has been working with young people from the youth club ‘Energiya’ for three weeks. Over this time they have been discussing each other’s hopes and plans and Alevtina has been helping the young people to create individual routes of achieving their dreams. Creating a detailed plan of following one’s dream thus has appeared to be a unique mental and creative task that has stimulated the teenagers to believe in themselves and ignore a sarcastic saying ‘Dream on!’, which can be very discouraging when you’re young. This has also boosted their confidence and showed ways of how desirable things can be reached as well as has given them better understanding of what they want and what they’re capable of in order to reach it. The dreams of the young people are very different - some are of rather material nature, like buying a house, some want to change something about themselves or obtain a new skill and some just want to regain the ability to dream.
All the individual routes are to be presented at the event concluding Alevtina Kakhidze’s residency, which will be held in the format of a performative conference ‘Dream Cartographers’. All dream achievement strategies will be revealed!

Alevtina Kakhidze:
‘An antipode of a dream is planning, a to-do list that we write down in our calendars. If you carefully plan the process of achieving a dream and present it in a format of a road map with all the significant turns and roundabouts, the dream will turn into a goal which is easy to reach! It is important to imagine a very detailed picture because it helps to understand what needs to be done to reach this goal already today. When we just started the project I asked the kids how they see me - as a mentor? as an adviser? as a fairy? But they decided that I will be just Alevtina’.
